I’m giving away THREE PAIRS OF TICKETS to THREE LUCKY WINNERS!
Now that I’m back on the dating scene again – I have been thinking more about ideas for different first dates.
Don’t get me wrong – the typical “Let’s meet at such and such bar and grab a drink,” is still a viable option, however – how well can you really get to know someone in a loud bar?
Often, many people do not want to commit to a sit-down dinner on a first date either – even if the restaurant setting provides a more convenient way to chat and get to know your date…in between bites, of course.
No one likes someone who talks with food in their mouth!
I was recently chatting with the team from Aroma and thought to myself that going to an Aroma on a first date would be ideal.
Founded in Jerusalem in 1994, AromaEspresso Bar has expanded to more than 170 locations worldwide across six countries, including Israel, Canada, and the United States.
Aroma came to Canada and opened their first Toronto location in The Annex in 2007, and they haven’t stopped there. With locations all around the GTA, including Markham, Mississauga, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Oakville – and more in the works – it’s safe to say that Aroma is here to stay.
Having a first date (or any date for that matter) at Aroma is a great idea for a few reasons.
Between their signature hot drinks, such as the Brazilian Hazelnut Latte, Hot Apple Cider, and the Aroma coffee, to their delicious cold drinks like the Sunrise (which I actually enjoy with a little vodka in it), Ice Chocolate, and their Iced Berry Tea Lemonade – there is bound to be something you’ll love.
If after you have your first drink – you find you’re comfortable and enjoying your date’s company – you can then decide to maybe grab a bite and continue getting to know each other. All without having to leave and head to another spot!
Pair your drinks with some delicious food, like the Sweet Potato Lentil Salad, or the Aroma A.C.E. Sandwich – which I tried recently and thoroughly enjoyed!
Now – I wouldn’t tell you all about this awesome first date idea without giving you the opportunity to experience it yourself, would I?
Of course not!
I’ve partnered with the amazing team at Aroma to offer one lucky winner a $100 gift certificate!

Stella Artois The sensorial experts will all come together to provide a fully immersive experience.
I was one of the lucky few invited out to experience the Stella Artois Sensorium before the global launch, and let me tell you – it was an experience like no other.
When we arrived, we were greeted with a chalice of Stella Artois…and those didn’t stop all afternoon!
As we waited to be seated a wall of 200 Stella chalices opened up and exposed us to the dining area.
We walked in, ready to immerse ourselves in a 5-course dining experience that would enlighten all 5 senses and pair perfectly with Stella Artois.
We were seated at one of two custom made tables, which each sat 20 people on each side.
As I mentioned, the tables were custom built for the Stella Artois Sensorium and were actually incorporated into the different courses.
Chef Richie Farina of the Michelin starred restaurant Moto, Chicago worked with the team to create a 5 course menu that was incorporated with video, music/sound, scent…everything you’d need to enlighten all your senses!
The first course was a selection of raw petite vegetables, planted in mushroom soil with a roasted garlic aioli.
As the dome changed colours above and around us, we literally dug into our first course!
The second course came with a plate that had sea salt surrounding a quote that read,
Sweet coconut fields, give way to the savoury sea, get ready to set sail, your journey has just begun.
The roof of the dome matched the white sea salt…it was breathtaking!
Shortly after our quoted plates were presented, our dish was served.
Raw and dehydrated scallops, poached halibut with a young coconut puree accompanied by a variety of fresh sea vegetation.
Chopsticks, broth, and a bowl of raw vegetables were brought out next and I was warned that this would be an interesting presentation.
All of a sudden, drums were being played, and the table was vibrating.
The broth was warming up and then we were to include the vegetables ourselves.
A vegetable broth served with crispy rice noodles, chilies, bean sprouts and a variety of herbs were devoured with our chopsticks, that read,
Chopsticks? We see drumsticks. Hot soup with cool jazz. Time to feed your soul.
When this course was brought out, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.
Usually when I go to an event like this – I am presented with a menu at the start.
Which is ideal for me, as I have been known to be a picky eater in the past…however, I dove right into every dish!
No questions asked! #ProudOfMyself LOL
Braised beef cheek bird’s “nest” with caramelized cauliflower puree, mushroom leaves, salsify branches, succulent greens and cauliflower soil were served under a smoked glass that read,
Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.
The final course was dessert, and it reminded me of camping!
Chocolate ganache with graham cracker served inside a marshmallow fluff, accompanied with a rich chocolate truffle all served over a real fire.
Each group of four, or so, got their own log and fire – so we all had the chance to roast our marshmallows.
For $50, you’ll chow down on fresh oysters from the raw bar and a full East Coast Lobster Boil along with your favourite sides; local corn on the cob, potato salad and a freshly baked bread roll from BlackBird Baking Co.
