I love love. This is no secret. I’m a massive hopeless romantic, so it should come as no surprise that I adore Valentine’s Day. Duh – I love all thing romantic and mushy and gushy. I’m practically the cartoons you see where they have hearts as eyes and are almost always blushing.
…yeah, that’s basically me.
That being said, whether you are coupled up, or flying solo – Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be stressful…or boring! Sure, you could do the same ol’ thang year in and year out – make a reservation at a fancy schmancy restaurant…but, where’s the fun in that?
I’ve put together a short list of fun things you can do this Valentine’s Day – either your boothang, your friends, or heck – even just on your own.
Get Hot In The Kitchen
There’s something sensual about creating a delicious meal together. Working together as a team, in close quarters (especially if your kitchen is as small as mine). Then, the best part is that you get to sit down together and devour your hard work. Pusateri’s has some great Valentine’s Day themed menu options, like these adorbs heart shaped ravioli.
Bonus: It’ll likely be cheaper and a whole lot easier to make reservations at your dining room table as opposed to the hottest restaurants in the city. Just saying.
Work Up A Sweat
Simmer down, I’m just talking about getting physical. Ok, maybe not the best choice of words. Let’s try that again. Get active. Yeah…active will work. Tie up your runners and hit the gym, or go for a run. Get those endorphins flowing and they’ll carry on throughout the night…if you know what I mean. *wink*
Bonus: If you work out twice as hard on February 14th, you won’t feel as guilty when you purchase some discount chocolates on the 15th.
Be A Tourist in Your City
If you live in Toronto – there are so many fun, and free things you can do in the city right now. Grab your honey and lace up your skates at one of our many free outdoor rinks. Or – head down to the Distillery District to wander around the Light Festival. Much romantic, much cute.
Bonus: Prime spot for an adorbs Instagram-worthy selfie.
Fake It Til You Make It
Don’t want to test your luck in the kitchen by making something yourself? I feel you. Hit up Foodora. Now you can even order ahead, and pick it up on your way home – saving time and money on the delivery fees/minimum orders. Or – browse the available menus in your area, and have them deliver straight to your door.

Bonus: Foodora and Durex have partnered to help Canadian couples plan the ultimate night in this Valentine’s Day. Every Valentine’s Day order from Salad King, Saku Sushi, and Calii Love will include Durex Sensi-Thin Condoms and Durex Passion Cherry Play Lube. YOU’RE WELCOME.
Go Ahead And Treat Yo’ Self
Listen, we all don’t have the luxury of being able to hop on a plane and jet off on vacation. I get it, trust me – I get it. But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to pamper yourself a little bit. Marriott Rewards can help with that. With your Marriott Rewards you earn points when you travel, which can then be cashed in for hotel stays, dream vacations, even the newest and coolest tech toys.
Bonus: When you take your sweetie on a staycation – you BOTH win.
(P.S. I’ve partnered with Marriott Rewards for 2017 so stay tuned for more of those adventures!)
Get Crafty With Your Cocktails
There’s a reason Valentine’s Day falls in the dead of winter. It’s so that you can cozy on up with your special someone, right? Well – why not pull together a few different ingredients and try your hand at making your very own unique cocktail first? Think…hot toddies and boozy hot chocolates. If the cocktails don’t warm you up quick enough – I suggest cuddles.
Bonus: Not feeling adventurous with your cocktails, stick to the classics. You can never go wrong with a Negroni made with Campari.
So, those are just a few of my ideas for Valentine’s Day . Like I said, each of these can be done whether you’re coupled up or flying solo this Valentine’s Day – so, have fun and stay warm.
